Ginger’s Tale
I adopted Ginger from HHS back at the end of January. I had just lost my Sophie right before Christmas to cancer. She was 13.They had brought Ginger in from an abusive situation. She’s 7. She was afraid of everything. She has a few scars under her hair. She had dental surgery last week.
They were so good to us at the HHS.
Ginger has come out her shell quite a lot in the last couple weeks and has quite the personality! She has made new friends, dog and human. She walks by the River and the ballpark 5 times a day. She insists. On sleeping in the bed with me. And she howls at firetrucks!

Loki’s story
From scared and withdrawn to happy and thriving – Loki’s journey at Halifax Humane Society is a testament to patience and love.
When Loki first arrived, he was frightened, avoiding eye contact, and hesitant to interact. But with time, trust, and the dedication of our team, Loki started to come out of his shell.
Through daily exercise, one-on-one training, and office time for socialization, Loki grew more confident and ready to embrace new experiences. Today, he’s living his best life, relaxing in his new home!
Thanks to programs like Open Paw and the incredible support from our community, transformations like Loki’s are possible. Together, we create brighter futures for animals in need!
