The Halifax Humane Society Lohman Pet Adoption Center is the best place for great pets! Our goal is for our shelter to be a pleasant, friendly, quiet place where community members can go to learn about animals and basic training and behavior. Every encounter with an animal at Halifax Humane Society is designed to teach manners or skills so that adoptable pets can adapt and thrive in a new home. Visitors to our shelter are part of the education and training program that we call Open Paw®.
Halifax Humane Society is open for adoptions from 12 noon to 6pm, 7 days a week.

Our shelter offers “get acquainted” rooms and outdoor spaces to bond.
Our shelter offers “get acquainted” rooms and outdoor spaces where prospective adopters can get to know our animals. If you already have a dog, we love it when you bring him or her along for a “meet and greet” so our adoption counselors can coach you and your pet to help welcome a new family member.
The adoption process is easy and efficient to get you and your pet ready to go!
The adoption process at Halifax Humane Society and with our off-site adoption partners is the same. Please allow about 20 minutes for an informal conversation with an adoption counselor and to complete an adoption agreement. Every animal presented for adoption by the Halifax Humane Society is ready to go to their new home. Dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens have been examined by a veterinarian, fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and permanently identified with a microchip. Adopters must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid state-issued identification. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express for payment.
